Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos.

It was created in 1966 for President Fidel Castro himself and was made at the then top secret, but now world famous, El LLaguito factory. At first, it was only seen outside Cuba as gifts for heads of state and visiting diplomats.

Since 1982 Cohiba has been available in limited quantities to the open market.

The name is an ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba - the earliest known form of a Habano.

The leaves for Cohiba are the "selection of selection" from the 5 finest Vegas de Primera in San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo zone.

Uniquely amongst Habanos up to three of Cohiba's filler leaves , the seco, ligero and the rare medio tiempo, undergo an additional fermentation in barrels. This unique process produces a special aroma and flavour you will only find in Cohiba.

Tonight I smoked my first ever Cohiba siglo VI which had a gorgeous silky smooth milk chocolate wrapper with a slight fuzz on the wrapper this shows good ageing and humidification the cigar also had a nice even pack and a packed foot. After inspecting the cigar I then had a smell of the wrapper and foot, it had a beautiful honey, coco and a sweet hay pre light aroma once I had cut the beautifully done triple cap the first initial pre light taste was a nice pepper on the lips mixed with an earthy note with a hint of coco. After slowly toasting the cigar the first taste notes where a very delicious cream with bit of pepper spice there's was a cappuccino coffee note also probably where the cream is coming from. On the finish there is a lovely milk chocolate which coats the pallet however the finish doesn't last long which is a shame as it was a great blend of rich flavours which I loved, the cigar also has a lovely draw lots of thick smoke output and burning perfectly so far. 16 mins in entering the first third that pepper spice at the start has gone leaving a hint of black pepper taste on the pallet the smoke is still very creamy and smooth, that milk chocolate has now moved into the draw and the finish, in this third there is also a sweetness coming in almost like a liquorish which is very interesting, on top of that I'm still getting a nice toasty coffee taste which complements the coco very nicely however the burn has gone a little wonky but no need to touch up just yet as it seams to self correct and the ash is lovely and white however doesn't look like it will hold on much longer. Thirty four minutes in entering second third ash is dropping off inches at a time so not too good however the burn line has self corrected to a razor sharp burn, taste wise still creamy coffee which is now the main pop of the draw with a hint of pepper is slowly creeping back into the mix, as for the chocolate it has gone back to the finish which is still on the short side the liquorish has almost faded out so really the stick has gone back to the original flavours of cappuccino and coco I have also noticed a slight raise in strength giving me a small head spinning effect which at this point isn't to much to handle. One hour in at the final third the stick is burning quickly which is surprising for a big stick, I also had to touch up the burn a few times to as it started to get out of control again however the flavours are just unbelievable in this final third that liquorish has come back onto the draw which is very sweet and keeping me really interested, that lovely cream and coffee is still there on the draw to with the coco mixing in which again which is an amazing combination. As for the strength it has picked up a slight tick again to a medium-full. Finished the stick 95mins or and hour and thirty five minutes, overall a very nice stick lots of lovely dessert like notes with the coco and creamy notes on the forefront really enjoyed the liquorish too which really pulled the flavours together i would personally call this stick a medium to full bodied cigar as most Cohiba's are. I also liked the fact there was no harsh ness to the smoke just lovely smooth smoke that coated my pallet very nicely.

I have enjoyed many of these cigars. They are consistent with taste and have a great slow burn. I would recommend them wholeheartedly

My live review of the Cohiba Siglo VI on Christmas Eve The build quality of this cigar is superb The draw is perfection and the aroma is fabulous with lots of smoke with no effort at all Initial strength is mild towards medium and tastes of mild hay The burn after an uneven start is now sharp, the first third was quite mild but now picking up in strength still grassy with fruity undertones the aroma is intoxicating Into the second third and this cigar is fabulous still grassy and fruity Final third still the same taste and getting toward medium to full strength Would I buy these cigars again? Possibly but to my mind the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.1 is better value and is a tastier cigar from the first light the Siglo VI is a good cigar but not great because of the slow first third so i will be getting more Epi 1's next year without a doubt My rating for the Siglo VI is 90, A Merry Christmas to All Cigar Smokers Every Where.
