there is a rumble of sherry in this glass like there is a rumble of thunder outside my tasting room. Only there, there is far more water....this nose is also earthy as though mixing manuka honey with ginger, allspice and freshly trimmed beans: definitely unusual; massive delivery with several layers of jam amid the honey. Again the spices are at full throttle; thought i caught a furry off note...'and indeed I have, as confirmation is received that this has been matured in sherry butts, though the damage by the sulphur is pretty limited. almost a brilliant whisky. For clynelish, certainly an oddball.
