Going, Going…

Well at last and after much planning auction weekend is upon us! The final viewings are at our offices on Sunday from noon followed by the pre-auction herf at Ten Manchester Street on Sunday evening and the main event at Boisdale Canary Wharf on Monday from 6pm.

Clients have flown in from across the globe and it should be a wonderful and very smokey few days. I’m looking forward to the Balvenie whisky tasting pre-auction and still deciding which cigars we will be enjoying on both evenings.

All Auction info and results are on the Auction website and absentee bidding closes on Sunday so you still have a little time to get your last minute bids in if you are unable to join us for the event.

If you need any advice you should be able to find the answers on the FAQ page and Director of Auctions Brian Ebbesen is always happy to answer any queries on email [email protected]

If you watch Bloomberg TV you will see me being interviewed on Friday about aged cigars of course. Not many merchants specialize in vintage Havanas that I know of and it’s nice that the press always seem to be coming to us for info and interviews. I’ll see if I can get the clip up on the website next week.

Time sure flies when you’re enjoying yourself and I must have been having fun as we have just celebrated 7 years as La Casa del Habano – Hamburg so congrats to my Partner Christoph Wolters and here’s to the next 7 years of being the largest Havana cigar specialist in Hamburg. Our humidor and store in Hamburg is huge and also features a large and comfortable smoking lounge. We have a mouth-watering range not only of Havanas but also rum and single malt whisky and a massive range of smokers accessories. C.Gars Ltd clients are always made super welcome.

I zoomed up to Scotland on SqueezyJet this week to visit our whisky and cigar shops in Glasgow and Edinburgh – Always a fun day out for me. Glasgow is our smallest and yet our busiest shop! I think I’ll relocate next year to a shop 4 or 5 times the size so we can have a massive selection of handmade cigars in a far larger walk in humidor to complement our great range of single malt whisky.

You won’t find the whisky we sell in the supermarkets as just about everything is a speciality line. Our exclusive Robert Graham Dancing Stag range of single malt whisky seems to be more and more popular by the week. These award winning single malts are selected by my Partner Ron Morrison from single casks that we have owned in many cases for a lot of years.

Cambridge opening date is coming up fast as December 4th seems very close now and I’ll have to start deciding on the range to fill the two walk in humidors that are now in the process of being constructed. Opening new Robert Graham and Turmeaus stores are a huge amount of work and a huge relief when the doors finally open. I love the Cambridge location and am looking forward to throwing some great evenings of whisky and cigar sampling in the sampling lounge at the new store.

Cambridge will be the 10th store in the Group and of course, once its open, we will no doubt be looking for the 11th!

I’m off to a friend’s wedding at the Mayfair Hotel on Saturday evening… May be able to sneak out to the cigar terrace for a cheeky smoke or two 🙂

Have a smokey weekend

Peaceful puffing

Mitchell
