A rare whisky which was a special pre-release bottling of Bruichladdich's Octomore - previously the most heavily peated whisky in the world.
Distilled in 2002 then bottled in April 2008 from Bourbon / Buffalo Trace Cask type.
The barley variety was Optic and the PPM 80.5.

Nose: Violent peat smoke, juniper, liquorice, a subtle sweetness, something medical.
Palate: Very strong, but pure edible, a nice sweetness, slightly vanilla, but also a lot of peat smoke, licorice, herbaceous, spicy.
Finish: Long peat smoke, medicinal, juniper, slightly herbaceous, but rather less oak, but much dry smoke.
