Description

Family owned Benromach Distillery has announced a new addition to its Classic Range, Benromach 2008 Cask Strength Whisky, a rich and full-bodied, limited-batch single malt whisky.

The batch release which will be sold across multiple international markets, was matured in First-Fill Sherry and Bourbon casks.

Laid down in 2008 before being bottled in 2019, Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 is a 10-year-old whisky.

Bottled at cask strength (57.9% ABV), Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 Batch 1 will replace Benromach 100° Proof in the Classic Range

Benromach Cask Strength Vintage 2008 Batch 1 is presented in an elegant bottle with shapes and textures inspired by the Speyside distillery.

The copper cut medallion on the packaging signifies the moment in time when the distillers cut to the sweet heart of the spirit run. Each bottle will detail the vintage year, batch number and age.

Just 5,500 bottles will be available to purchase worldwide from 24th April 2019.

Tasting Notes

Nose: An intense sherried nose with stewed apple, pear and vanilla pod.  There is also a toasted malt present and an underlying herbal edge too.

Palate: On the palate the fruit element is still very present with raspberry, strawberry and candied peel.  Subtle sweet notes of milk chocolate are balanced by delicate smokey pepper.  A touch of water adds polish, honey and yellow fruit flavours.

Finish: Smokey and rich on the finish with a sweet, salty and smokey character.

Taste Test

Jim Murray has scored this Benromach Cask Strength Batch 1 (2008)  as 90.5/100 in his 2020 Whisky Bible.

'As friendly as peated malt as you’ll ever find'.

Rich and elegant nose with chocolate and toasted brown bread notes. The palate is bold and full of summer berries. Strawberries, cherries, blackcurrant and raspberries sweetness complement the gentle notes of vanilla and oak wood. We can also find the classic Benromach smoke with more oak and creamy caramel. The smoky and woody notes linger on the finish with hints of fruit and cinnamon.
