Description

A fantastic gift pack from Gordon and MacPhails's distillery, the Benromach 3x20cl gift pack containing the Benromach Peat Smoke, Benromach Organic and the Benromach 10 years old.

Each whisky varying in taste also from their superb 10 year old to their peaty/smoky bottling.

The Benromach Distillery is family-run, making whisky in the traditional handcrafted way.

The family, The Urquharts of Elgin has been distilling whisky since 1915, when everyone was blending their whiskies, the Urquharts were laying down casks of single malt.

As a result, the family over the years has amassaed a remarkable private collection of extremly rare and beautiful single malts. So when they bought the aged and mothballed distillery at Benromach in 1993, they revived it to recreate the lost taste of gorgeous Speysied whisky from before the mid 1960s.

Tasting Notes

Benromach Peat Smoke:
Nose: Complex, with a smoky character yet perfectly balanced out with citrus, apricot, malt and soft spices.
Palate: Very warm with smoky, peppery goodness. The subtle taste of oranges and lemons are also present.
Finish: Lasting embers that take some time to finally fade away.

Benromach Organic:
Nose: Quite woody, spicy and malty but then comes the caramel and resin.
Palate: Oaked, oily but the toffee sweetness with freshly cut fruit balances the two together. Also present is a subtle toasted spice.
Finish: Fresh with a few wood shavings.

Benromach 10 years old:
Nose: Dry, barley, a fair bit of malt and oak. Dry pine is also present yet it's also fruity. After a time, yet more sweetness arrives with sweet spices and a hint of puckering prune from the sherry cask and fudge.
Palate: Barley, slightly herbal and a little fruity. Malt is more noticable than the herbal and fruit aspect. Also present is ground ginger.
Finish: Bittersweet, ginger and dry sherry.
