From BenRiach's peated range comes the Benriach, Septendecim which translates to seventeen continuing Benriach's quirky trend of using Latin names.
Benriach Septendecim is a 17 year old Speyside whisky more robust and muscular from their 10 year old Curiousitas having only been matured in ex-bourbon casks.
Septendecim is non chill filtered, with its natural colour remaining and bottled with a strength of 46% ABV. Unlike the recently launched BenRiach Solstice, the Septendecim is not a limited release and should therefore be continually available for years to come.
Nose: Full of energy and vibrancy. There is a complex mix of fresh peaty aromas which is constructed around apples, toasted nuts, vanilla custard, pipe tobacco, cedar wood and black treacle.
Palate: Giving sweet concentrated peat flavours which dominate right from the start. Bold and intense with honey infused raisins, roasted nuts, vanilla, a hint of spice and leather as black pepper and nutmeg develop.
Finish: More exotic spice notes on the tail.
