This Single Malt Scotch Whisky comes from the Speyside distillery of Aultmore by way of Gordon & MacPhail's wonderful Connoisseurs Choice range.
Distilled in 2000, this Aultmore was aged in a combination of American hogsheads and Sherry hogsheads up until 2014, the year in which it was bottled.
This Aultmore was also bottles just two years after Diageo sold the owning company of the distillery to Bacardi in a deal worth over a billion pounds.
Overall this Aultmore is a nice light whisky with a delicate fruitiness, red apples and pears.
AROMA WITHOUT WATER:
The whisky has herbal, dried apricot and raisin aromas with hints of charred oak.
TASTE WITHOUT WATER:
Delicate fruitiness, with red apple and pear flavours. Festive spices and a touch of oiled wood linger.
AROMA WITH WATER:
Toasted malt and sweet summer fruit aromas, blueberry and raspberry. A subtle cinnamon edge lingers.
TASTE WITH WATER:
Peppery and sweet with hints of green apple and plum. Becomes creamy with a smooth milk chocolate edge.
