Description

Introduced in 2014 to replace the Classic Auchentoshan comes this new Auchentoshan.

Triple distilled and matured solely in American bourbon casks, the result? Auchentoshan American Oak, a Lowland Single Malt Whisky with the sweet aromas of vanilla and coconut - along with the signature smooth, delicate, Auchentoshan taste.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Bright gold.
Nose: Oranges and lemons with delicious toffee chunks and milk chocolate. Wafts of grassy air and clotted cream come and go.
Palate: Bounty bars, yet more citrus in the sense of peels with peaches. A little buttery, with golden barley and oak spice developing on the mid palate.
Finish: Lasting notes of grapefruit and toffee pennies.

Taste Test

Very curious: reminds me very much of Penderyn Welsh whisky before it hits the Maderia casks. Quite creamy with some toasted honeycomb making a brief cameo appearance.

This is a sweet lowland whisky with character and depth. It is deliciously complex giving the consumer a chance to discovery new, underlying flavours with each sip. Its maturing time in the 3 different caskets is very apparent to the nose and the taste is as big as the rich colour. A great late-night whisky that goes hand in hand with a good cigar.

This is a great buy for someone looking to purchase their first Scotch. It is very easy on the palate, not the most complex of scotches out there, but for a nice enjoyable dram to share with friends at a great price. This is a light whiskey, the oak/bourbon synergy makes for a very pleasant drink.

With a nose so beautiful it draws one's mouth to the glass, this is smooth and full bodied. It is the only triple distilled scotch left in the world making it a precious gem. Whilst it has comfortable burn finish, its smooth enough to drink neat to reveal a young and lively taste. Everything a malt should be, so quaffable and easy on the palate. This 12 year old has been described as approachable for beginners that are finding their feet in the world of whiskey.
