Te-Amo Revolution Toro Cigar - Box of 18

Ok I drink Bourbon, either neat or as a Horses Neck. It works real well with a big, heavy cigar. These two things were what we looked forward to when (if) we got back from a mission in 'Nam. Yeah yeah I'm old, well ancient actually, and I've been smoking big old stoggies since then. I like a cigar to be a minimum of 52 gauge, for me it's a preference, I just don't like smoking something like a six inch nail!....but the Revolution came with the pack, so I tried it. First impression, a beautifully crafted elegant cigar. On lighting it the revolution caught well with a little rotation, and from then on burnt evenly, slowly and steadily, needing zero further help. The smoke had a vague hint of licorice, the aroma on drawing released a smooth smell of burnt toffee, and some turmeric back notes, with no hint of bitterness, then as the length reduced a slight peppery taste developed, but never over powering, right up until the last draw. This cigars gives a good full hour of relaxed smoking, blending well with the Bourbon. The shape? Well it's a matter of taste, but I really prefer a full round cigar, the oval shape making it more difficult to hold this otherwise superb cigar elegantly. Then of course there's that band.....surely for such a beautiful cigar, so carefully conceived and crafted, a more fitting band? Would I buy again, even with the shape? Most certainly.

Lovely wrapper, high quality construction a good burn. The first 2 thirds were predominately sweet and chocolatey. After this some strong cedar notes started to come through but just as I was about to get interested the cigar began to burn pretty hot. Not really my cup of tea but may suit some people it ha sweeter tooth. I would try the Robusto to see how it fairs but I feel the price of these puts them directly in competition with far superior offerings. Saying that,rehabs have a punt you might like it!

A very nice 1 hour smoke. Started mild and creamy but gradually became fuller and spicier as it hit the halfway point. I had a few burn issues with it, having to touch it up a few times throughout, but the flavours more than made up for that. The unusual shape actually made the cigar more comfortable to smoke and it produced nice thick smoke. Shame about the tacky band.
