Matured in two types of casks, the traditional oak and sherry oak casks and bottled at a slightly lower abv of 40% than previous editions.
This 16 year old Aberlour is bursting with lush plum, raisin and even floral notes. A cracking Speyside malt.
Colour: Rich golden amber. Nose: Rich, dry scented floral and sweet raisin aromas with spicy nuttiness. Palate: Smooth, full, sweet floral and spicy flavours with a soft plum fruitiness and gentle oakiness. Finish: Long, warm, spicy fruitiness.
A magnificent marriage between sweet, juicy fruit and lively spice; sturdy-framed but giving grape, too; the softest delivery of lightly sugared grape, salivating and sensuous; light spices struggle to free themselves from the gentle oils; pithy with the vanilla determined to ensure a drier finale; a joyous malt reminding us of just what clean, fresh sherry butts are capable of. A malt of unbridled magnificence.
