Aberlour Single Malt comes from Speyside, the most renowned whisky producing region.
Aberlour 10 Year Old is a great entry-level malt, ideal for beginners, with a fine sherried spiciness. Pound for pound, this is one of the best that Speyside has to offer.
Matured in a fine balance of sherry and bourbon casks, aberlour offers a rich, smooth, mellow flavour, marrying aromas of autumn fruits with hints of spices including cinnamon and nutmeg.
Nose: Sweet and full. Sherried raisins, hints of toffee and a pleasant nuttiness.
Palate: Quite full-bodied, spicy rich fruitcake, toffee notes and a creamy malty-feel and the vaguest whisper of something akin to synthetic banana.
Finish: Caramel and honey, the malt still evident and the sweet spices still linger.
Remains a lusty fellow though here nothing like as sherry-cask faultless as before, nor displaying its usual honeyed twinkle. 43%
