What a classic cuban, loaded with intoxicating and decadent cuban flavors and aromas. The first wave is warm chocolate and espresso beans. Then add to that warm honey and noughat. The chocolate is the strong swiss style chocolate, and the espresso is the oily italian style.
The honey over tones add a real classic touch. The mainstay of very strong well aged, very very well aged tobacco is the main focus, the ever decadent and intoxicating cuban twang is present. The wrappers dark colorado, oily and shiny, virtually flawless. All the boxes i have are from 02 productions, and they are utterly perfect, such a masterpiece of cuban mistique.
The ever present aroma of warm cuban cedar adds a decadent and intoxicating finish, never to be forgotten.

A review of the SLR Tubed Churchill which quite possibly is the greatest of all the Julieta 2s from Havana. Yes, those Punch Julietas have a wonderful and complex flavor, but these tubed Saint Luis Reys contain that and more upon a wonderful medium to full strength. No weak and light flavored HDMs, nor subtle and sublime RyJs or harsh and bitter Partagas can outperform this outstanding SLR vitola no matter the time of day or occasion. So Junior, spit out that Romeo churchill and fire up a real Julieta 2!!!

I must confess to holding on to this for the last six months out of the tube and in my humidor(68rh). The perfect occasionwilliamsettemioattbi.com I have the house to myself and no distractions. Im pleasantly suprised for the mild to medium flavours that this churchill gives. The ST. Luis Rey Churchill is tops in my book. Save the extra cash and get them untubed. Thanks Smokey Mo !

Go for the 1998 vintage cabinet selection version of this
magnificent complex Havana while they are available.
Perfect construction and appearance.
Colorado maduro wrappers.
Kick ass flavour! medium strength and a delicious aroma.
The best julieta 2 vitola that comes from Havana IMHO.

Really nice churchill (I had the tubed) - not a lot of spice, just rich earthy Habano goodness. Almost as good as the RyJ. Consistent and balanced.

Another underrated Habano. Very good and complex with earthy and leathery flavors. Not knock your socks off good, but well worth trying. These are a good example of a cigar that needs proper aging to be truly appreciated. As with most Habanos in this size, the draw can be slightly firm, but not to the point of imminent aneurism.

When stored for a few months out of the tube these can be excellent. Deliciously spicy, earthy cigars. However, though I agree that they are better than most other churchills, I still prefer the Bolivar Coronas Gigantes, a more refined and rich flavour. Bolivars seem to age better also.

A memorable smoke from a Churchill whose fragile-looking wrapper doesnt inspire much confidence at first. A well rounded aroma with flavours of nuts, leather and delicate spices. Good and even burn, but a little bitter towards the end.
