Isle of Jura Superstition - 70cl
Date Added: Sunday 06 July, 2014
Isle of Jura Superstition - 70cl by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
When this was released (a few years ago now) I was initially sceptical; what defines Jura malt is the balance of soft fruitiness and sea air. So to introduce a peaty version seemed like a bit of a cop out. I'm pleased to say that for the first time in history I was wrong. Packed with an earthy bang this could quite happily go toe to toe with any of its Islay neighbours and put up a damn good fight. Yet it doesn't lose its subtle nature and remains a non-throat-burner. Perhaps a good way to test the waters if you're not used to peated whisky. Dougie (Canongate)

Red Bull Snuff

Red Bull Snuff by Staff Reviews
Be warned: This is one of the strongest snuffs available! A light, crumbly texture makes taking it very easy and a generous dose of menthol gives it an incredibly fresh flavour. Certainly not for novices, but it will leave your sinuses feeling fresh and tingly all day! -Calum, Turmeaus Chester

Saint Luis Rey Petit Coronas Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Saturday 05 July, 2014
Late-ish evening with strong black coffee.well filled good construction and a great draw on this cigar.the flavour I got was earthiness/woody with a wee bit espresso no creamy Ness or bitterness.was an enjoyable smoke.flavour a good medium to full.no sweetness.the flavour profile didn't alter for the duration but what it does do is hit the ground running from the moment you light it.very enjoyable cigar.be great in a nice warm house looking out over a frosty evening with a drambiue liquor I'd imagine.

Mortlach 16 years old - Flora & Fauna - 70cl 43% by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
This is probably your last chance to get this. The sixteen year old Flora & Fauna bottling is without doubt one of the most collectable whiskies from snatched from the open market in the last decade. Bristling with rich oaky nuttiness and pounding with sweet, sublime smoothness, this particular expression is like a Pin Up poster model for whisky lovers. Unbecoming though it may look this is a whisky that not only will accumulate in value over the next couple of years but will also tempt your heart into throwing caution into the wind and breaking it open. Either way is the right decision. Dougie. (Canongate)

Aberlour A’Bunadh - Batch 46 - 70cl

Aberlour A’Bunadh - Batch 46 - 70cl by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
Aberlour is an archetypical Speyside malt; soft, smooth and eminently drinkable but this is a special one for me. Bottled at natural cask strength from small batches the A'Bunadh varies from batch to batch. However as a credit to the distillers, never does it dip below the quality of 'excellent'. Last one I had was rich and fruity with a creamy/yogurty smoothness as it slipped down. A long enough finish but not outstaying its welcome. You may want a splodge of water with this one but it doesn't demand it. Attractively packaged with a wax sealed top this is a strikingly attractive whisky on the outside (perfect as a gift) as well as being beautify crafted on the inside. Dougie, (Canongate)

Scapa 12 years old 70cl 40% by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
There's not much of this left on the planet so if you want it get it now! This is hobby Scapa, by that I mean on the days off the distillers had from Highland Park had nothing better to do than make whisky in a different distillery (Not an awful lot going on in Kirkwall) this is a delightfully soft island malt with a touch of the sea air, not smoky though. It was made by enthusiasts and but it can be savoured by anyone. I rue the day they stopped producing this as it provided so many great experiences. Take one while you can get it! Dougie, Canongate
