Campbeltown Loch - 70cl 40%

Campbeltown Loch - 70cl 40% by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
Having grown up in the blended whisky industry I have a very soft spot for blends. Malts are great but they are elemental, forged by nature and prone to change just when you don't want them to. A blend is a piece of art, sculpted by the finest craftspeople in the trade and Campbeltown Loch is an example of some of the finest artistry around. With its base malt of Springbank being a cracking place to start off and whatever other drams are mixed in create a wonderfully smooth and slightly sweet mellowness. Produced in quite small batches so pick it up whenever you can. Dougie. Canongate

Glendronach 12 years - 70cl 43% by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
There's not many distilleries left that can claim such extensive use of sherry casks but Glendronach it one of them. Sherry cask maturation adds a whole new element to the flavour of whisky, ripening it, sweetening it and creating a unique genre of taste. In this twelve year old you'll find everything from toffee apples to soda cream. In the very, very background there is a whiff of smoke but only just (so if you don't like smoky malts don't be shy about trying this one) This is one of my all time favourites and the great thing is they have a full range to explore (which I have done several times!) Alec Bradley - Black Market Toro Cigar - 1 Single
Date Added: Wednesday 02 July, 2014
I'm still new to cigars, having tried quite a few I've enjoyed many and some I really didn't but smoked anyway. This Alec Bradley Black Market cigar belongs near the top of my list! Really tasty on the first third, spicy on the lips and mouthfulls of smoke - possibly the best smoke output on a cigar I've had yet! Medium bodied and smooth - just getting into aging my cigars so hopefully if I leave the other AB I bought sitting in the Humi for a bit it'll be even better! Definetly buying more in the weeks to come. Try it NOW!

Very nice simple cigar with a smoothness and hint of lemon. Surprisingly good all the way down to the last centimetre but a little harsher at the foot.

Don Ramos Coronas Cigar - 1 Single

An excellent value cigar. Good draw, slightly woody taste. Great smoke and smooth. Similar in many ways to a Davidoff Grand Cru No5. Definitely in my top 3 for cigars under 10. A bargain purchase.

Balvenie 12 years Doublewood - 70cl 40% by Staff Whisky Review Canongate
If you're not used to drinking whisky then this is the one for you. If you ARE used to drinking whisky then this is also the one for you! One of the softest smoothest whiskies on the market as a result of it's Double Maturation (first in American oak then in Sherry casks). Round and juicy with splendid sweetness and rich toffee tang. I always suggest this one to anyone starting out on their whisky journey because it's a great introduction but it also has enough complexity to satisfy a seasoned palate. Dougie Canongate
