    JOSE L. PIEDRA

José L. Piedra is a particularly noteworthy Havana not only because its blend is composed of filler tobaccos grown exclusively in the Remedios tobacco region (formerly called Vuelta Arriba), but also because it is made using the ‘totalmente a mano, tripacorta’, or ‘totally hand made, short filler’ technique.

The Piedra family came to Cuba in the 1880s from the Spanish province of Asturias. They settled near the town of Santa Clara, which lies at the heart of the Remedios region where tobacco has been grown since the 16th Century, and started to make cigars.

The family’s second generation led by José Lamadrid Piedra, whose name is commemorated today, founded and developed the brand.

All of the José L. Piedra sizes are made from Remedios tobaccos using the traditional ‘tripa corta, totalmente a mano’ – short filler, totally handmade technique.

    PETIT CAZADORES

The diminutive petit cazadores is an ideal way to sample what the distinct flavours of Remedios tobacco has to offer.

  • Hand rolled with short filler. Very pleasant taste and aroma.

Reviews

Customers say
Customers generally find this to be a good value Cuban cigar, offering an earthy, creamy, or nutty flavour profile that many enjoy as an everyday smoke. However, a significant number of reviews highlight inconsistent quality, with common issues like tight draws, uneven burns, and poor construction, making it a bit of a gamble.
Best suited for those seeking an affordable, short Cuban smoke who are prepared for potential inconsistencies in draw and construction, or for those who enjoy ageing their cigars to improve the experience.

I have smoked 2 of these. 1 was plugged solid and 1 was perfect. A very nice tasty smoke for the price if you get a good one but it is a bit of a gamble on quality it seems. I think i will probably buy again because the good one i had was an enjoyable smoke.

The worst cuban cigar I have tried so far. Weak and tight draw. Almost no flavor. Feels and smokes very cheap. I could not finish a single one of these, I threw 3 of these straight in the bin. Do not buy. Mitchellero robusto is better smoke at this price. Being Cuban shouldnt always justify the purchase.

Sensational little Cuban. Creamy & nutty and very enjoyable at a fair price.

Got 12 of these in a pack just to round off my import allowance on a recent trip to Havana. I wasnt expecting too much given the price but was pleasantly surprised. Good draw, even burn, pleasant if non-complex flavour. Probably good value even if bought in the UK.

Another totally inconsistent vitola from JPL. Ive had about 20 of these now and at least 7 or 8 have been total duds, a few have been great and the rest kinda OK. Biggest problem is tight draw and no smoke output into the mouth, just over packed so cant free up the draw with a draw tool. Some were tunneling really badly. When they are good they are nice, but damn the quality control is shocking. Cannot recommend these at all, or any of the JPL line to be honest.
