Ref # CU0100Flavour: Medium to Full Length: 5 1/4" (132mm) Ring Gauge: 42 ring gauge Packaging: Box of 25
With golden brown wrappers this figurado is a smooth medium flavour and medium strength cigar. A perfect daytime smoke with a very light aroma. A slightly uneven burn at the start but a suprisingly cool smoking experience. A figurado in the old style.... complex and completely satisfying. If you like the Cuaba Generoses you may wish to try: Rafael Gonzales Coronas Extra No. 3 and a Romeo Exhibition No. 4.

Cuaba Generosos
An appealing looking cigar, very much a "stereotypical" cigar shape. Really nicely rolled. Due to the tapered foot the cigar lit remarkably easily although whether this shape is going to require a lot of nursing of the burn I can't say yet.
The first couple of draws were quite firm, but now the burn is starting to get to the thicker parts of the cigar, it's becoming much easier to draw on.
Flavour wise, the first flavour I've picked up is a sort of bittersweet ness, like treacle or liquorice, for example, but it it doesn't actually taste of either of those things, it's just that's the type of flavour that first hit me.
There's a light spiciness in there too, sort of a cinnamon or nutmeg level of intensity though, not as "peppery" as some can be.
My initial concerns about the burn seem to have been unfounded, so far it's burning lovely.
The aroma from this cigar isn't over-powering either, it's a light woody-caramelly type of smell which I think most wouldn't even notice if you were smoking in company and those who did notice I can't imagine complaining.
Approaching the thickest point of the cigar now which I'd say starts about a quarter of the way in and I'm starting to think that this shape of cigar isn't just a gimmick. Not only does the narrower foot "ease you in" to the smoke and give you a nice gradual development of flavour and "builds up" the volume of smoke, but because the residual ash doesn't have as much weight on the very end, it still feels firmly attached to the cigar and I can't see there being one of those "oops" moments when the ash catches you by surprise and drops off.
So far this is proving to be fairly medium bodied, I definitely know I'm smoking a good Cuban, but at the same time I'll still be able to get up and go about my business after I've smoked it, actually to me this almost seems like it'd be a perfect "lunch hour" smoke if you're the type that smokes at work and the subtle flavours and mild aroma means that if you're caught without mints or anything like that, you won't be breathing anything too harsh at your colleagues/clients afterwards!
Ok so getting "over the hump" now and the burn line has just started to deviate slightly, I personally don't see the need to fettle it with a lighter but if you're a bit OCD about having a dead straight burn, you'd probably want to.
So into summarise: subtle but pleasing flavours, a mild aroma and medium body make for a very well-rounded if not particularly stand-out smoke. The shape and overall quality of construction is what makes this cigar such a winner. I think it'd be perfect for sitting outside in the summer with a nice coffee just to compliment the flavours. Would definitely buy again.

I'm a sucker for oddities. The distinctive shape makes it more manageable. Aroma: light caramel.
