Drew Estate: Master Blender Willy Herrera
The cigars of the Drew Estate Company have ceased to be an insider secret even in Europe. The small kiosk at the New York World Trade Center that began the business in 1996 has taken company founder Jonathan Drew along a tortuous route to a company that today can boast a daily output of 100,000 cigars. Willy Herrera, the first master blender in the history of the company, is now taking on responsibility for the brand’s blends.

Cuban Street Hawkers
In this issue Cigar Journal reporter Simon Lundh writes about his experiences with Cuban street dealers. They nab tourists on the streets and take them through Havana’s alleys to back rooms where they offer cigars of questionable origins at unbeatable prices.

Humidores Habana
José Ernesto Aguilera’s humidors are amongst the most artistic and exclusive items available in the world. We visited him in his workshop in Havana to hear him tell about the specific features of the unique Cuban masterpieces and the difficulties in getting hold of the material for each of the humidors that are auctioned for hundreds of thousands of Euros during the Festival del Habanos.

Air humidity measurement: The hygrometer test
Measuring air humidity is a tricky business. Often enough the correct storage of cigars in the humidor is made difficult by imprecise measurement devices. Humidor specialist Marc André explains how the various devices work and assesses their accuracy and suitability for use in a humidor.
